Skillshare classes are actionable, authentic, and designed to help students bring what they learn into the real world.
So using Skillshare means learning from watching videos. But that’s not it.
Skillshare users learn by watching classes at their own pace, creating projects to apply what they learned into practice, and interacting through class discussions with other Skillshare members worldwide.
This creates a unique learning experience that is very much enjoyable for anyone.
In my opinion, you will never run out of options to try something new on Skillshare. You can always find some courses to learn something new that keeps you busy.
So much so you can find classes on simple yet interesting areas like cleaning and organizing your fridge to advanced areas like creative writing classes.
Result: you will master a new skill you didn’t even know you could be good at.

Comparing Skillshare to other learning platforms will help you understand how Skillshare stands out. The following topics discuss a few Skillshare alternatives that you can consider. Below is a table that shows the Skillshare pricing compared to other e-learning platforms.
|Online Learning Platform||Cost|
|Skillshare||$165 per year averaging out to $13.75 per month|
|YouTube||Free but YouTube Premium costs $11.99 per month|
|Masterclass||$180 per year|
|$39.99 per month or $240 per year|
|Udemy||Individual courses are priced ranging from $19.99- $199|
|Coursera||$59 per month or $399 per year|
It’s a known fact that YouTube is FREE. But is Skillshare worth paying for compared to YouTube, which is free? Well, it solely depends on what you expect to learn.
YouTube is excellent for free content, but learning from youtube can take longer to master a skill; sometimes, the content is stretched out through long videos, and sometimes exclusive content is only accessible through the creator’s website upon payment.
But on Skillshare, you get unlimited access to all courses and can save classes to watch later.
Unlike Skillshare, Masterclass courses are taught by VIP and celebrity instructors, which makes it one of the most unique e-learning platforms.
The video classes featured in Masterclass are top-quality and almost comparable to cinematic production. Whereas in Skillshare, anyone can create and publish a class, so the quality is questionable.
Skillshare covers many creative topics, offering a massive collection of courses. At the same time, Masterclass has just over 150 courses in its library.
Although Masterclass charges may be slightly higher, the instructor caliber and production value make it worth your investment. Also, they do offer a generous and risk-free refund policy.
LinkedIn learning is more focused on developing skills beneficial for professional and career growth, but Skillshare classes are much more on the fun learning side that allows you to learn new skills.
Skillshare classes are more enjoyable for an average user like me. And LinkedIn is more expensive compared to Skillshare.
The Udemy platform is like a bargain store for e-learning. Compared to 35,000+ Skillshare courses on Udemy, you can find over 200K courses.
While Skillshare covers more creative topics, Udemy touches a broader range, including business, technology, and personal development.
On Udemy, you won’t find any monthly or annual membership plans like the other platforms. Each class comes with a price tag, and you can choose the class you like. You will find many classes under the same topic, so your choice will depend on your budget.
Quality-wise, Skillshare and Udemy are on par because both platforms allow anyone to teach a course. To try out Udemy, you can take one of the free courses available on the platform.
Unlike any of the above comparisons, Coursera is on another level, offering courses from world-leading universities with accredited certifications and degrees.
Coursera courses are designed for professional users to build skills related to their profession. So you can’t expect any fun learning like in Skillshare.
Coursera is a fantastic platform to try if you want to learn new skills on a professional level. Plus, they offer many free courses, including acting and writing classes.
It’s completely understandable. You gave Skillshare a shot but didn’t find it suitable for you. And now you want to cancel it. Skillshare allows users to easily cancel their annual Subscription.
To cancel Skillshare, you follow the steps listed below;
- Visit www.skillshare.com through your web browser
- Log in to your Skillshare account and go to ‘Account Settings.’
- Choose the ‘Payments’ option
- Then click on ‘Cancel Membership.’
- Follow through the cancellation steps as directed by the site
If you cancel your annual Subscription before your paid period ends, you will still have access to the Skillshare platform until the period expires. So you can continue to take classes, engage in discussions and submit your projects for review.
Once the paid period ends, you can no longer access the platform. But you can always come back for an annual subscription plan.
Canceling subscriptions purchased through the app stores cannot be done following the above steps. Skillshare says the app store directly manages these membership cancellations.
So to cancel subscriptions purchased through the iOS app or Google play store, you can access the following links and follow through;
- To cancel a subscription purchased for the Android version, visit Google Play
- To cancel a subscription purchased for the iOS version, visit iOS app store
Skillshare only provides refunds for payments on premium annual subscriptions. The Skillshare refund policy is applicable only within the first 7 days after the charge is processed.
To start the refund process, you can contact Skillshare by submitting a request. Typically it will take up to 14 business days for you to receive the refund if your request is approved.
Note: After the first 7 days, you will not be eligible for the refund. However, you can cancel your premium subscription and enjoy Skillshare until the billed cycle ends.
